Our Students

Hartwick music students are encouraged to be active in their chosen field of study through solo performance, large and small ensemble work, student organizations, and working with faculty and staff in the department, along with the many other activities in which they are involved.

Professional Organizations for Music Students (and those interested in music):

The National Association for Music Education: MENC (Music Educators National Conference) National professional music organization for music education majors. Each year, members of MENC travel to Rochester, NY for the annual New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) conference. These students are active in promoting the value of music and music education through campus and community activities.

Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women. Sigma Alpha Iota is a women's organization that promotes music.

Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia National Fraternity in Music for Men. Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is a men's organization that promotes music. This organization brings in outside performing artists for campus-wide events.

Pi Kappa Lambda National Music honor Society, recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. Each year outstanding seniors are nominated by the department for membership.
