When family members make a gift to the College above and beyond tuition, it is a wonderful endorsement of their belief in the education their student is gaining at Hartwick College. Parents, grandparents, and other family members who contribute to the Hartwick Fund provide a valuable resource to enrich their student’s experience at Hartwick College. In 2006-07 parents, grandparents, and family members gave over $200,000 to the Hartwick Fund and $1.5 million to the College.

Our Fiscal Year:
Hartwick's fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. All pledges must be paid by June 30 in order to be applied to the current fiscal year.

I pay tuition. Isn’t that enough?
The simple answer is no. In fact, no family in the more than 200-year history of the College has ever paid the full cost of a Hartwick education. Today, approximately 80% of Hartwick’s budget is covered by tuition income. Hartwick, like other private colleges, relies on gifts from parents, alumni, and friends to bridge the gap between tuition income and the actual cost for each student to attend. Gifts to the Hartwick Fund are vital and benefit all students--something all parents can appreciate!

Can a small gift make an impact?
Yes! When Hartwick applies for funding from corporations and foundations, they often inquire about the percentage of parents who support the Hartwick Fund. They see this as a measure of excellence of the institution. Strong support from families demonstrates to others that Hartwick is worth their investment.

Where does the money go?
The Hartwick Fund supports academic programs, student activities, study abroad opportunities, student-faculty research, and general operations of the College. The Hartwick Fund helps make possible the outstanding educational opportunities that are a part of your student’s Hartwick experience.
