Civic Engagement

 

Hartwick College encourages our students to volunteer; we see service as an ideal way to put study of the liberal arts into practice and to teach students to become global citizens. As part of Hartwick's commitment to civic engagement, our students, faculty, staff, and alumni engage in service in a variety of ways outside of the college classroom and beyond their college careers.

And it's rewarding. Whether time is spent reading to the elderly, planting trees, helping at a community pantry, or tutoring challenged children or adults, those who serve gain innumerable benefits.

Students:

  • serve in order to complete program or professional certification requirements;
  • perform volunteer service as part of completing a course, an independent study, or an internship;
  • volunteer their service as part of membership in student campus organizations with a service mission.

  • volunteer to ongoing needs to enrich their community.
