Physics is the basis of science and technology. It deals with how and why matter and energy act as they do. The laws of physics precisely describe force and motion, gravity, electricity, magnetism, sound, light and heat. They help you to understand the physical world and develop products that meet human needs.
Mastering physics is challenging. You must learn to work with other people as well as alone. You must learn how to solve problems, observe things carefully, make measurements and keep accurate records. You can use these skills for the rest of your life. They will open the door to jobs in physics related fields as well as other areas such as publishing, sales, law, accounting and medicine.
At Hartwick, dedicated faculty members will get to know you personally and will work with you to develop the skills required for success in the discipline. The number of physics majors is relatively small, and class size in upper level courses rarely exceeds 10 students. Facilities are modern and laboratories are well equipped.
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then becoming a physcis major could be for you. More about what Hartwick physics majors are doing....
