Office of Academic Affairs

 

The Office of Academic Affairs is charged with ensuring that the College has high-quality faculty and a strong liberal arts curriculum that prepares students for life-long learning, rewarding careers, and interesting lives.

 Responsibilities:

Faculty

  • Personnel records office-maintain personnel files for all faculty members
  • Hire in consultation with departments and department chairs
  • Professional Development: provide financial support for professional meetings; professional memberships; grants; endowed chairs and awards
  • Evaluations: teaching, scholarship, and service
  • Faculty office assignments, office hours, and collect course syllabi (which get filed in the Library)

Curriculum (in consultation with faculty)

  • Oversee academic instruction
  • Work with Faculty Council on what will be taught and on evaluating the curriculum

Students

  • Liaison to programs relating to the first-year experience
  • Probation and dismissal in conjunction with Academic Standards Committee
  • Academic misconduct (plagiarism, cheating, forgery of signatures, etc.)
  • Irresolvable conflicts with faculty members
  • Diversifying the campus in terms of students and programming

Fall and Spring

  • Dean's List (preparation)
  • Dean's Certificates (distribution)

Offers resources to students, faculty,and staff in planning instruction and events that explore cultural and racial diversity in the U.S.

Career Development & Education
Katrina A. Zalatan, Dean of Experiential & Integrative Learning

Provides all phases of undergraduate career counseling, internships, and other experiential education options. The office also offers direction and support for students seeking full-time employment or graduate school.

The Stevens-German Library

As well as housing normal Library information, it also is the home for the, Curriculum Technology Center, which provides staff and special equipment (authoring stations, CD burners, etc.) for faculty and staff use. The Library also is the central location for campus Audio Visual needs.

The Yager Museum of Art & Culture
Donna Anderson,  Coordinator, Yager Museum of Art & Culture

Houses the following:

  • Yager Collection; Fine Arts Collection; regular exhibitions
  • Foreman Gallery in Anderson Center for the Arts (contemporary art, student art exhibits).
