At Hartwick, you'll think, create, play, and challenge yourself to grow. You'll have resources and opportunities to establish deep connections and, from those connections, to acquire a better understanding of the world and the opportunities for you in it.
Student Involvement. College isn't just about academics. It's about community and involvement. Hartwick offers the wide range of activities you'd find at a large school with the opportunities for creativity and leadership only a small school can offer. Our active student life is boosted by intramural sports and more than 65 student clubs and organizations. About a quarter of Hartwick students compete on one or more of 17 intercollegiate athletic teams.
Civic Engagement. Opportunities for community-based learning and civic engagement allow students to integrate and apply classroom knowledge-while fulfilling community needs. Hartwick has long-term partnerships with over 25 local community organizations, such as the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and the Oneonta City School District.
Sustainability. Sustainability at Hartwick is an ongoing initiative. Thirty years ago, Hartwick began its commitment to sustainability with the purchase of the Pine Lake Environmental Campus. Hartwick formalized its commitment to a sustainable future in 2004 when it signed the Talloires Declaration for environmental responsibility and began planning for green adaptations on its main campus.
Arts & Culture. Hartwick melds a liberal arts curriculum with personalized teaching and multiple ways to extend your education beyond the traditional classroom. And you don't have to be an art, music, or theatre arts major to participate. Students interact with guest artists, musicians, actors, poets, writers, directors, and performers. In turn, students create their own art, music, theatre, and poetry as they play a vital role in campus exhibitions and performances.
