Coming Home: Fine Crafts by Hartwick Alumni emerged from a conversation with alumnus David Dingman '67, owner of the fine crafts gallery Capitol Craftsman in Concord, NH. After the museum's exhibit Kaleidoscope of Crafts, featuring the work of New York State artists last year, he made the suggestion that the museum present an exhibit of Hartwick alumni working professionally in the field of crafts.
Curator Nancy Martin-Mathewson wanted to showcase alumni working full time in the field of crafts, who may or may not have been art majors during their time at Hartwick. This exhibit will showcase the work of six such alumni. This group comes together from Dingman's original suggestion, suggestions by Hartwick art department faculty and referrals by other alumni. Fiber by Elizabeth Gillett '83, glass by Christopher Morrison '84, ceramics by Brinton Baker '80, glass by Chris Rochelle '99 and metal by Tom Hoff '83 and Mo Clune '83 will be on view in The Yager Museum's Warren Gallery until December 19th.
