A Hartwick education is a personalized education. With a 12 to 1 student-to-faculty ratio and an average class size of 18, students really get to know their professors. Professors are mentors who give students the confidence to succeed, in whatever they choose to do.
While our faculty and staff are accomplished scholars and professionals, they make the teaching and support of students their top priority. We measure our success through graduate school admissions rates, employment opportunities, and the satisfaction of our alumni and alumnae.

- Hartwick students note the close relationships they establish with faculty and staff as a defining experience of their college experience. In the 2005 National Survey of Student Engagement,* Hartwick seniors scored Hartwick 15.8 points above the national average for Student-Faculty Interaction.
- Hartwick promotes high levels of student achievement by emphasizing the importance of academic effort and by setting high expectations for student performance—and we provide the support students need to meet and exceed academic expectations.
- Hartwick's Office of Advising & Registration and Career Development & Education Office work with students from the moment they step onto campus to help them make decisions about majors and career paths that are right for them.
- MetroLink, our award-winning week-long job shadow program, connects students with our alumni in New York City, Boston, and Washington, DC, and provides an inside perspective on a wide variety of careers. A one-day job shadowing program in nearby Binghamton, NY, also provides first year students with an early test-drive of careers in which they are interested.
- More than 95% of our students are employed or in graduate school within six months of their graduation. About 20% go on to graduate school directly.
- Hartwick provides career-related services for life—at no cost.
