ONEONTA, N.Y. - Senior Annie McDonald netted the game-winning goal at 46:35 to pace Marywood University to a 1-0 victory over Hartwick College, Saturday afternoon at Elmore Field in the first round of the Erinn K. Brozman Memorial Cup.
Tied at the half, the native of Sag Harbor, N.Y., gathered in a shot off the goal post and beat Hartwick goalkeeper Ashley Taylor (Nashua, N.H.) for the game's lone score. Marissa Rudy, who took the initial shot, got credited with the assist.
The Pacers, 1-0 on the year, were out shot 8-7 in the contest. Goalie Meghan Coyle stopped five Hawk shots on goal to preserve the victory. Taylor collected two saves in net for Hartwick.
Manhattanville and William Patterson are playing in the day's second game. Hartwick will host Manhattanville at 1 p.m. Sunday, while William Patterson will play Marywood at 4 p.m.
