ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Hartwick College women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to visiting Rensselaer, Thursday afternoon at the Hartwick Tennis Courts.
Rensselaer opened by taking all three doubles matches. The tandem of Progga Das and Erica Sherman defeated Betsy Braeznell (Delmar, N.Y.) and Lauren Aquino (Loudonville, N.Y.) 8-0 at the top spot; Kristen Weiss and Jessica Sitzer posted an 8-3 decision at second doubles over Lexi Andrus (Binghamton, N.Y.) and Jennifer Lin (Albany, N.Y.), and the team of Andrea Dalton and Michelle Pelersi posted an 8-2 victory over Rebecca Sarro (Newburgh, N.Y.) and Christina Sorrentino (Sherrill, N.Y.) at the final doubles position.
Das defeated Braeznell 6-3, 7-5 at number one singles; Christine Roe downed Lin 6-1, 6-1 at two singles; Weiss defeated Aquino 6-3, 6-1 at three singles; Sherman defeated Anne Neely (Milton, Mass.) 6-0, 6-3 at four singles; Dalton posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Andrus at five singles, while Sitzer defeated Kim Post (Nashua, N.H.) 6-3, 6-3 at six singles.
The Hawks, now 1-1 overall, return to action Sunday as they travel to face Empire 8 Conference rival, RIT. The match begins at 2 p.m.
