Hartwick Volleyball Finish Elmira Tournament With Split

ELMIRA, N.Y. - The Hartwick volleyball team wrapped up play at the Elmira College Tournament with a 3-1 mark by splitting its final two matches, Saturday.

The Hawks, 5-3 overall, defeated York College 30-5, 30-6, 30-7 in the earlier match before falling to Allegheny 30-26, 32-30, 30-23.

In the opener, the Hawks received a team-high five kills each from Jamie Belmonte (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and Kerri Sisson (Ballston Spa, N.Y.). Abby Cummings (Syracuse, N.Y.) led the squad defensively with 10 digs, while Christina Evans (Cedar Hill, Utah) tied her career high with eight service aces.

Against the Gators, Cummings posted 14 kills and a match-high 38 digs, while Evans added 14 kills and 17 digs in the loss. Sisson also had a nice defensive match with 22 digs.

Hartwick returns to action next Friday at the Union College Tournament. The Hawks will battle with Russell Sage at 4 p.m., then play Skidmore at 8 p.m.
