ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Jen Kaye (Altamont, N.Y.) posted the game's lone goal and goalkeeper Katie Thorpe (South Windsor, Conn.) made it stand up as Hartwick downed Nazareth 1-0 in Empire 8 field hockey action, Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks, who improved to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in league action, got all it needed at the 19:01 mark of the first half as the freshman took a pass from Amanda Johnson (Reading, Vt.) and beat Golden Flyer goalie Katie May. It was Kaye's team-best sixth goal of the year.
Thorpe went the distance and collected four saves along the way for her first solo shutout of the year. The sophomore shared a shutout in Hartwick's 9-0 victory over Elmira earlier this week.
The Hawks return to action, Saturday afternoon as they travel to face Ithaca. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
