Division of Student Affairs
Vision, Mission, and Core Values
Driven by the College’s mission and The Organizing Principle and Strategic Framework, we are dedicated to focusing on students and their development in a safe and educational learning environment
Vision Statement
The Division of Student Affairs is committed to the integration of student learning and development by creating transformative learning opportunities that enrich the lives of our students. The Division strives to promote excellence and encourage student success by engaging students in the life of the College community.
Our Mission
The Division of Student Affairs, in collaboration with faculty, staff and students, is charged with facilitating activities, programs, and services that encourage personal, social, and intellectual development leading to student success and a vibrant, engaged campus community. Diverse programmatic opportunities and services bolster the capacity of students to develop responsible decision-making, leadership, and communication skills as they gain respect for differing cultures and ideas. We strive to provide an environment that holistically promotes personal growth, social responsibility, student empowerment, involvement and well-being in the intellectual, social, cultural, spiritual, emotional, and physical realms. Together we establish programs, services and traditions that empower and enhance the lives of students. Further, these experiences forge lifetime connections to the College and create citizens who contribute to their communities.
Core Values
Throughout the Division of Student Affairs, students will encounter caring practitioners who are trained and skilled in their own specialties and are professional educators dedicated to assisting students in developing to their full potential. The focus of student affairs is one of education and guidance, not merely problem-solving.
We embrace the following core values:
The Division of Student Affairs is a member of the National Association for Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and the American College Personnel Association (ACPA). We support the Assumptions and Beliefs as well as the Role of Student Affairs professionals as outlined in “A Perspective on Student Affairs” a statement issued on the 50th Anniversary of The Student Personnel Point of View. We assess our programs and services based on professional standards developed by the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education.
