WASHINGTON, PA. - Washington and Jefferson netted two second half goals en route to handing Hartwick a 3-2 loss, in Empire 8 field hockey action, Saturday afternoon.
The Presidents got goals from Amanda Howard and Laura Peery at 43:42 and 61:54 to open up a 3-1 lead. At 65:33, the Hawks shaved the deficit to one as Amanda Barton (Endicott, N.Y.) assisted on the seventh goal of the year scored by Jen Kaye (Altamont, N.Y.).
The Hawks, who dropped their third-consecutive decision and fell to 7-8 overall, opened the scoring at 3:22 of the first half as Annie Yager (Greene, N.Y.) connected on her fourth goal of the year. W&J tied the contest on a goal by Erika Ruddy at 15:50.
Katie Thorpe (South Windsor, Conn.) collected five saves in the loss for Hartwick.
The Hawks return to action Wednesday afternoon as they host Utica. The game will start at 4 p.m. at Wright Stadium.
