Bobby Wheet enters his first year as a member of the Hartwick men's basketball coaching staff.
Wheet comes to Oneonta from Central College, where he served one year as a student assistant coach for the Dutch men's basketball program. The graduate of Central College was active within the athletic department during his time as an undergraduate in Pella, Iowa. Wheet was a member of the football team, where he lettered in 2006 and then served as a student assistant coach for football from December 2006 to May 2007. He also was selected by fellow students and professors as one of 16 students to participate in a student leadership program for four months. Wheet also worked the summer of 2004 for the athletic department in a variety of ways.
During the summer of 2006, Wheet worked basketball camps at Marquette, Wisconsin ,and Northern Illinois helping with practice drills, the evaluation of campers, as well as coaching and supervising teams in games and practices. From November 2003 until February 2006, he volunteered as a boys basketball coach at Pella Middle School, coaching "B" and "C" teams in practices and games.
The native of Minier, Ill., earned his bachelors in Social science from Central in May, 2007.
