Greek Week Events 2008

(Please review carefully and explain to Chapter in detail.)

Friday, April 11, 2008: must be turned in to Allison's Office by 5 p.m.
Each chapter will decorate a banner (supplied by the Office of Greek Life) and will be given a budget of $20 to complete a banner to be hung in the Commons during Greek Week. Receipts must be turned in to Allison Green in order to receive a refund for supplies and materials purchased to complete the banner. Banners will be judged on creativity and originality and should have your Greek letters/name of organization displayed.

Saturday, April 12, 2008: Powder Puff Football Game,Turf Field, 5 p.m.
Each sorority will field a team of 11 people at any given time for a game of flag football. Each sorority should have a "matching" uniform and is allowed to have 3 coaches of your choice. Fraternities will act as the cheerleaders and must perform a 3-5 minute "cheer-dance" at the half time of the games. Points will be awarded to winning football team and winning cheerleaders.

Monday, April 14, 2008: Talent Show, Stack Lounge, 8 p.m.
Each chapter is required to enter 2 acts from your chapter in the talent show to receive participation points. You will receive additional points for the more acts you enter into the competition. We will have faculty/staff members to act as judges during the competition. (Ideas: lip sync, dance, guitar, band, comedy, etc.) At least 60% of your chapter must attend the Talent Show to receive spirit points.

Tuesday, April 15, 2008: Order of Omega Induction, Stack Lounge, 8 p.m.
At least 60% of your chapter should be in attendance to watch members of the Greek community be inducted into Order of Omega.

Wednesday, April 16, 2008: Cards for Kids, Chesebro Room, 11a.m.-1 p.m.
Up 'til Dawn will provide supplies to make cards and send well wishes to the patients at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Attendance will count for spirit points.

Thursday, April 17, 2008: Greek Olympics, Binder, 7-10 p.m.
Events to take place are: TBD

Friday, April 18, 2008: Greek Awards, Stack Lounge, 4:30 p.m.
At least 60% of your chapter should be in attendance at this event. At this time, awards for the year and Greek Week will be awarded. (Please see separate packet to submit application for awards.) Each chapter should also nominate one faculty/staff member to be recognized during this ceremony. Please dress in business casual attire (no jeans/sweat pants). Attached you will find a faculty/staff appreciation nomination form. Greek Awards packets are due on April 4, 2008 by 5 p.m. to Allison Green.

Monday-Friday Letter Check-In, Outside the Commons, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Each chapter must check in with an Greek Week committee member. Make sure to check in to receive points for your house.

Monday-Thursday Penny Wars
Each chapter will be given a bucket/jar and will be responsible for collecting money each day throughout Greek Week. The bucket/jars are due by Thursday, April 17 by 5 p.m. The money at the end of the week will be donated to St. Jude's. This is another easy way for your house to receive points.
