ONEONTA, N.Y. - Eileen Hennigan and Ashley Pezze each tallied four goals as visiting RIT downed Hartwick 19-6 in an Empire 8 Conference women's lacrosse clash, Sunday afternoon at Wright Stadium.
RIT, which evened its record to 4-4 on the season, led 9-4 at intermission.
Kelsey Cambell (Camillus, N.Y.) pulled Hartwick to within four at the 28:29 mark of the second half. However the Tigers reeled off eight consecutive goals to build an insurmountable 17-5 lead.
Jamie Boulton (Camillus, N.Y.) ended the drought with her 20th goal of the campaign at 3:09 on a free position shot. RIT closed the scoring with goals 15 seconds apart in the final two minutes.
Hartwick, which fell to 3-6 overall, jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Campbell connected on the first of her three goals. After Amanda Crozier knotted the contest at 1-1, the Hawks regained the lead at 27:33 as Campbell buried her second goal within a minute. Moments later,
Katie Thorpe (South Windsor, Conn.) increased Hartwick's lead to 3-1 with her 11th goal of the season.
Trailing 3-1, the Tigers netted seven unanswered goals, including the go ahead goal at 4-3 from Hennigan with 10:30 left in the opening half. Three of the sophomore's goals came during that stretch. Kelsey Evans made seven saves in 44 minutes of action before handing over the goaltending duties. The junior evened her record at 4-4.
Danielle Deperno (Cortland, N.Y.) stopped 15 Tiger shots in the loss.
Hartwick returns to action, Saturday afternoon as it plays at Nazareth. The game starts at 1 p.m.
