Campbell Reaches 40 Goal Plateau in Loss to Nazareth

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Michelle Cook and Nora Davis each scored four goals as Nazareth downed Hartwick 13-8 in Empire 8 Conference women's lacrosse action, Saturday.

Hartwick, which fell to 3-7 overall, trailed 1-0 early. However, the Hawks reeled off three consecutive goals from Jamie Boulton (Camillus, N.Y.), Jen Kaye (Altamont, N.Y.) and Kelsey Campbell (Camillus, N.Y.) to take their largest lead at 3-1. After Nazareth tied the game up at 3-3, Hartwick grabbed its last advantage of the contest with 5:35 left as Katie Thorpe (South Windsor, Conn.) posted her 12th goal of the year. Nazareth ended the first half and took a 5-4 lead into intermission with two goals in the closing two minutes, including Cook's second goal of the game with two seconds left.

Cook, Davis, and Jennifer Young scored goals in the opening 4:22 of the second half to give Nazareth an 8-4 advantage. The Hawks pulled within 8-6 as Campbell and Stephanie Nutt (Shirley, N.Y.) scored back to back goals at 25:06 and 23:01 respectively. However, Nazareth regained its four-goal cushion with consecutive goals.

Campbell ended the day with a four-point afternoon - three goals and an assist, while Boulton tallied one goal and dished off two assists. Thorpe added two goals for Hartwick. Danielle DePerno (Cortland, N.Y.) posted 13 saves for the Hawks in the loss.

Hartwick returns to action Sunday as it plays at St. John Fisher. The game is set for a 2 p.m. start.
