ITHACA, N.Y. - The Hartwick men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to league rival Ithaca, Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks, 5-5 on the year, lost all three doubles matches by scores of 8-2. Ithaca improved to 10-7 overall and 6-1 in league play.
In singles competition,
Sean Barr (Scarsdale, N.Y.), who shared league player of the week honors this past week, saw his four-match win streak fall by the wayside in a 6-1, 6-4 loss to Danny Wolk.
Dave Altman (Katonah, N.Y.) fell to Liam Berkowitz 6-1, 6-1 at five singles, while Jeff Buffum topped
Ryan Hughes (Clifton Park, N.Y.) 6-2, 6-1 at six. Sophomore
Matt Whitty (St. Catharines, Ontario) made his collegiate debut for the Hawks at three singles and fell 6-0, 6-1 to Alex Stoler.
Dan Meininger (Cassville, N.Y.) and
Eric DesRoberts (Biddeford, Maine), who both moved up a spot in the singles rotation, both suffered 6-0, 6-0 defeats at one and two singles.
Hartwick returns to action, Thursday, as it travels across the street to tangle with Oneonta State. The match begins at 4 p.m.
