CLINTON, NY - The Hartwick College men's and women's cross country teams took part in the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Championships on Saturday at Hamilton College. The 'Wick women's team took 9th place at the event while the men placed 10th.
The Hawks finished with 265 points on the women's side, four points ahead of 10th-place Union. Kim Negrich (Mayfield, NY) finished the 5k in 45th place out of close to 100 competitors with a time of 20:58.2. Gabby Dello (Mount Upton, NY) was just behind in 51st place in 21:20.6.
The women's team title went to St. Lawrence. Ithaca finished second and Hamilton was third.
Tim Sattler (Warwick, NY) turned in the Hawks' top time in the men's 8k event. Sattler covered the course in 30:32.1. He was followed by Justin Pedersen (Gilbertsville, NY) who finished the race in 32:12.7.
The University of Rochester captured top team honors followed by second-place St. Lawrence and third-place Ithaca.
The Hartwick College cross country teams wrap up the 2008 season next weekend at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. The teams will compete in the NCAA Regional Qualifier at 11 a.m.
