Bishop, Crow, Kennedy Recognized by Empire 8

ROCHESTER, NY - Hartwick College women's lacrosse sophomores Tiffanie Bishop (Shoreham, VT) and Briana Crow (Scotia, NY) were honored on Thursday as the Empire 8 announced its 2009 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference teams. Both players received honorable mention from the league's coaches. Freshman Hannah Kennedy (Avon, CT) was selected to the E8 Sportswoman of the Year Team.

Bishop ended her second season with the Hawks as the team's second leading scorer with 22 goals. She tallied in 11 of Hartwick's last 12 games including a season-high four goals against Oswego on Mar. 24. She led 'Wick in draw controls with 40 which also ranked fifth in the Empire 8 this season. Bishop also finished tied for second on the squad in caused turnovers with 13 and fourth in ground balls with 23. Over the course of her two-year career, Bishop has accumulated 36 goals, 10 assists, 54 draws, 53 ground balls, and 21 caused turnovers.

Crow was one of the Hawks' top defenders this season. She finished second in ground balls with 26 and tied for second in caused turnovers with Bishop with 13. Crow grabbed a season-high four ground balls against Skidmore on Mar. 19 and Stevens on Mar. 29 and caused a career-high three turnovers versus Nazareth on Apr. 18. She netted her first career goal on Apr. 19 against St. John Fisher.

Kennedy was named to the E8 Sportswoman of the Year Team for distinguishing herself and consistently exhibiting the critical traits as an outstanding sportswoman within the conference. She closed out her first season for Hartwick with 12 goals in her final three games. She entered the final week of the season with two goals and two assists in her first 12 games but exploded for four goals and an assist in a win over Wells. She added another four goals and an assist versus Ithaca, and tallied another four times and dished out an assist in the Hawks' 13-12 overtime setback at Elmira. She added 17 ground balls for Hartwick and 10 draw controls this season.
