Hawks Compete at Hamilton Invitational

CLINTON, NY - Hartwick's men's and women's cross country teams ran in the Hamilton College Invitational Saturday at the Hamilton Golf Course.

The 'Wick women's team, led by senior Gabby Dello (Mount Upton, NY/SUNY Delhi), finished 7th out of 11 teams. The men, guided by John Stuligross (Kenosha, WI/Kenosha Bradford), took 11th out of 13 teams.

Dello covered the 5K course in 20:36.5 to place 48th out of 126 competitors. Junior Laura Gray (New Windsor, NY/Howell) was 64th with a time of 21:02.3, and Erika Gates (Vestal, NY/Vestal) crossed the finish line four spots behind in 21:10.7.

Queens won the overall team crown. They were followed by second-place Ithaca and third-place Rochester.

Stuligross was 'Wick's top finisher for the Hawk men. He placed 73rd out of 164 athletes in 29:28.2. Junior Tim Sattler (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) was just two seconds behind in 77th with a time of 29:30.9. Ethan Staats (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) closed out the race in 30:51.8 for the Hawks.

The men's title also went to Queen's with Hamilton taking second and Ithaca placing third.

'Wick's cross country teams next compete on Oct. 24th at the NYSCTC Championships in Rochester.
