Who are We and What Do We Do?
WICKit Music Group was formed as a student club at Hartwick College in spring of 2008 to address two needs; to promote good local music and to give students an experiential learning opportunity. As a student-run record label associated with Hartwick College, we plan to provide students with the opportunity to learn and execute all aspects of a modern, independent record label.
As an independent label, we plan to find our artists locally and promote them nationally using a variety of the online sources available as well as college radio airplay and live events. Our key focus as a label is to get our artists out there playing live so that they can build a fanbase. The label will essentially be a combination of the 360 deal and the DIY method.
As a college organization, we have several advantages. We have the financial freedom to provide a non-exclusive record deal that favors the artist and we have two student communities (SUNY Oneonta & Hartwick) that want to hear local music.
