About Us

Hartwick's Pine Lake Environmental Campus provides students, staff, faculty (and the public via a membership) with unique opportunities to study, live, work, play, dream, and explore.

Facilities and features include 22 buildings, with residential living options for up to 30 Hartwick students, plus classrooms, a field station laboratory, the Vaudevillian theatre, picnic pavilion, and a ropes course on the 100-acre lower tract.   

The Pine Lake Environmental Campus is adjacent to a 217-acre New York State Forest Preserve and Riddell State Park (~1000 acres). 

  Over 800 acres of forest include: 

  • Mud Lake, a high-altitude kettlehole bog
  • Shelly Brook
  • Eight miles of trails
  • Charlotte Creek
  • Hemlock Swamp
  • River bottom flood plain
  • Prehistoric human occupation sites
  • Forests, meadows, marshes
