Instructors

Joe McGowan on writing based on traditional life;

His stories - backed by meticulous archival research, which are inspired by countless nights spent visiting the older generation and listening to their tales. His short stories, usually cameos of Irish life both past and present, feature frequently in national magazines and on radio. He is also a Heritage specialist with the Irish National Teachers Organization.

Oisín Mac Diarmada - fiddle

Sligo fiddle player, Oisín Mac Diarmada, is an honors graduate in Music Education at Trinity College, Dublin/RIAM. In addition to his widespread performing activities, Oisin is respected internationally as a fiddle tutor and for his journalistic, lecturing and production work. Fast becoming one of the most exciting young musicians on the traditional scene, he has been described by critic Earle Hitchner as 'one of the most talented fiddlers in Ireland today'.

Michael Londra - vocals

Recording artist Michael Londra is originally from Wexford in the South East of Ireland but now makes New York his home. As lead singer of Riverdance on Broadway, Michael first made his mark but he has since recorded original modern Celtic music to huge success. His current album, CELT has been released worldwide, having stellar sales in Asia with a No. 1 World Music Album in Korea and charting in the Top 20 in many of the pop charts. He is currently lead voice, singing the role of Jesus, in John Debney's Passion of the Christ Symphony from his Oscar nominated score of the Mel Gibson movie.  He has performed worldwide, singing in theaters such as Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, The Gershwin on Broadway and the Apollo in London's West End. He is currently working on an orchestral album with producer Steve Skinner.

Michael is also an ambassador for Concern Worldwide US, one of the world's leading agencies working in 30 of the poorest countries of the world.  He has traveled to Haiti twice and recently launched a new CD entitled 'Concern at Christmas,' with 100% of the funds raised dedicated to alleviating poverty in Haiti. Seán McElwainguitar/banjo

Seán McElwain (bouzouki/guitar) from Monaghan brings a strong string dimension to teada through his dynamic contributions on guitar and bouzouki. In recent times, touring performances have seen Sean gaining growing accolades for his accompaniment and melodic skills from many quarters. He holds a Masters in Electronic Commerce, but currently plays music full time.

Grainne Hambly – Irish harp

Gráinne Hambly from County Mayo in the west of Ireland is an internationally recognized exponent of the Irish harp. In 1998 she completed a Masters Degree in Musicology at Queen's University Belfast, for which her main research topic was music collections and the harp in 18th-century Ireland. Since then, Gráinne has toured extensively throughout Europe and the United States, giving concerts, workshops and master classes. She has featured on a number of recordings as well as releasing two solo albums.

Tommy Martin - uilleann pipes

Originally from Dublin, now resident in St. Louis MO, Tommy Martin's rare musical talent and experience has brought diverse performances throughout the world varying from tutoring in New Zealand to performing with Riverdance in New York to recording with past members of rock band "Thin Lizzy". In January 2004 Tommy had the honor of performing a newly composed piece of music with the Chicago Virtuosi Symphony Orchestra.
