Microbiology of Brewing

The Microbiology of Brewing will be an immersive 2-day symposium experience in June of 2021 which brings together brewing industry members and leading researchers to learn from experts and each other.

The theme “Cultivating Innovation Through Research” will explore how collaborations should grow the application of basic microbiology research to innovations in the fermented beverage industry. Speakers will be invited from multiple countries and geographic regions inside the US, and also selected to represent all levels of production of beer and kombucha, including microbiologists, fermentation and brewing scientists, and malting and brewing industry professionals.

Microbiome of Beverages and Ingredients
Genetic Diversity of Domestic and Wild Yeast 
Koji and Alternative Fermentation
Advanced Detection of Spoilage Organisms

The conference will be held on the campus of Hartwick College. Hartwick College is a private liberal arts and sciences college of 1,100 students, located in Oneonta, NY, in the northern foothills of the Catskill Mountains.
