Hartwick College Theatre Arts Announces Spring 2016 Productions

The Hartwick College Theatre Arts Program has announced its productions for spring 2016.

The semester will kick off with the rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask, which will run February 11-14 at 8 p.m. in the Lab Theatre, lower level of Bresee Hall on the college campus. The production will be directed by Nathan Skethway ’16 and star James Canal ’16 in the title role. Skethway and Canal will produce the show to complete their senior theses for the theatre arts major. Admission is $5 for the Hartwick community and $10 for the general public.

The spring’s main stage production will be Chicago, the hit musical from Fred Ebb, Bob Fosse, David Thompson, and John Kander. The satirical tale of murder and fame will run for two weekends, April 14-16 and April 21-23, with performances at 8 p.m. in Slade Theatre, Yager Hall. Chicago will be directed by Director of Theatre Arts Malissa Kano-White, choreographed by Alyssa Lundberg ’16, and designed by Joanna Carber ’16. Lundberg and Carber’s work on Chicago will complete their senior theses for the theatre arts major. Admission is $5 for the Hartwick community and $10 for the general public.

Hartwick College’s student dance club, Orchesis, will present an exhibition of its members’ choreographic talents on April 29 at 7 p.m. and April 30 at 2 p.m. Both performances will be held in Slade Theatre, Yager Hall. In the past, students have performed routines from hip-hop, ballet, modern, international, and ballroom dance.

Hartwick’s final theatre production of the semester will be Cock by Mike Bartlett. Bartlett’s play that tells the story of a comedic love triangle, Cock will run from May 5-7 at 7 p.m in the Lab Theatre of Bresee Hall. This production will be presented by Hartwick’s theatre club, Cardboard Alley Players, and the show will be directed, designed, and performed entirely by students. Admission is $5.
