Hartwick College Theatre Arts Department Presents “Hair”

The Hartwick College Theatre Arts Department is pleased to announce its spring main stage musical production of “Hair,” with lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado, and music by Galt MacDermot. The production will run February 9-11 at 8 p.m. each night, and February 12 at 2 p.m., in Slade Theatre, Yager Hall, on the College campus. Admission is $5 for the Hartwick community and all students with ID, and $10 for the general public.

Summarized by Tams-Witmark Music Library Inc. website, “‘Hair’ celebrates the 60s counterculture in all its barefoot, long-haired, bell-bottomed, beaded and fringed glory … Exploring ideas of identity, community, global responsibility and peace, ‘Hair’ remains relevant as ever as it examines what it means to be a young person in a changing world.”

“Hair” is directed by Hartwick Associate Professor of Theatre Arts Malissa Kano-White with co-musical direction by Assistant Professor of Music Dr. Andrew Pease and Theatre Arts Vocal Coach/Co-Music Director Dr. Jeremy Kellett. The show is also choreographed by Lecturer in Theatre Arts Kathryn Smith with scenic and lighting design by Lecturer in Theatre Arts Gary Burlew.

The cast includes Emily Barnes ’20, Erin Corah ’18, Karina Costanzo ’20, Tonie Cross ’17, Jessica Fehribach ’19, Chelsea Jones ’18, Sapphira Koerner ’20, Elle MacPherson ’20, Taylor Morin ’17, Madison Noel ’19, Dillon Orlando ’20, Riley Phillips ’17, Daniel Randolph ’20, Carlos Silva ’18, Gavin Smith ’19, Steven Smith ’19, Bryandt Stevens ’20, Allison Taft ’20, Reme Terrelonge ’18, Grace-Ann Toledo ’19, Brianna Tracy ’20, Abbey Vermeal ’18, Zachary Whitenack ’17, and Nick Woolson ’20.

The production is stage managed by Production Assistant/Academic Intern Alyssa Fox ’16, with assistance from Chelsea Jones ’18 and Grace-Ann Toledo ’19.

The College’s production of “Hair” has also been submitted as a participating entry for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF).
