Hartwick Names Winners of Fall Pine Lake Photography Contest

December 1, 2016

Winners of the fall 2016 Pine Lake Photography Competition were announced recently at the annual Holiday Dinner held in the Vaudevillian on the College’s Pine Lake Environmental Campus.

Nearly 30 images were submitted for the competition, which was based on the 2016-17 Hartwick College Campus Theme, “Fabric of Change.”

The following students were awarded prizes based on careful consideration and selection by judges from all images submitted:

  • Breann Jefferds ’17, 1st prize, “Red, White, & View” (on left in photo)
  • Jaleel Belfor ’18, 2nd prize, “Ice Walker” (on right in photo)
  • Courtney Carr ’19, 3rd prize, “Fabric of Change”

Honorable mentions from the event included: Caitlyn Schanz ’19 for “Always Changing,” and Krista Curpier ’19, for “Perception of Change.”

Adjunct Professor of Photography Kevin Gray (in center in photo) organized the show. Serving as judges for the competition were Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Michael Tannenbaum, Professor Emeritus Larry Mirarchi, and Pine Lake resident Brynn Marion ’19, who is pursuing a double major in French and geology, and a minor in art.

The winning submissions and all entrants’ work will be on display until the middle of spring Term 2017 when the Pine Lake Prize: Outstanding Nature Photography competition show will take its place. All students are invited to enter that exhibition, and the call for submissions will be in early 2017.
