Hartwick’s Cardboard Alley Players Present “The Nether”

November 4, 2016

Hartwick College’s Theatre Club, the Cardboard Alley Players (CAP), announces its production of “The Nether” by Jennifer Haley. This production will run November 9 – 12, with performances at 8 p.m. each night in Slade Theater, Yager Hall, on the College campus. Admission is $5.

As summarized by Samuel French, Inc., the leading publisher of plays and musicals, “‘The Nether’ is a virtual wonderland that provides total sensory immersion. Just log in, choose an identity and indulge your every desire. But when a young detective uncovers a disturbing brand of entertainment, she triggers an interrogation into the darkest corners of the imagination.”

According to the director Kent Benwell ’17, Haley’s play makes one consider “controversial aspects [of technology and the internet] and brings up questions of right and wrong when it comes to privacy and what should be considered illegal or immoral.”

CAP is student-run organization for theatre lovers, and its productions are entirely directed, designed, and performed by students. The cast includes Marcus Hudson ’18, Alli Taft ’20, Tyler Connolly ’18, Summer Howard ’18, and Dillon Orlando ’20.

Along with Benwell, the other members of the production team include Josie Worley ’18, Courtney Mallard ’20, Abbey Vermeal ’18, Alyssa Ralph ’17, Alex Austein ’17, Charlie Feher-Peiker ’17, Chelsea Jones ’18, and Maddie Noel ’19.
