ZeeMee Helps Hartwick College Strengthen Enrollment Success

Hartwick College is seeing improvements in student engagement and enrollment results thanks to a new digital strategy that connects prospective students long before they arrive on campus.

Since partnering with ZeeMee, the College has seen a fourfold increase in application conversion and double the student yield in its first full enrollment cycle using the platform. Hartwick also reported a melt rate of only 2 percent among students who participated in its ZeeMee community.

ZeeMee is a social platform designed for prospective college students. It allows users to connect with others considering the same schools through topic-based chat channels, live events and a main content feed similar to other social media apps. Students can ask questions, learn about campus life and begin forming friendships months before move-in.

Allison Holmberg ’17, assistant director of admissions and the College’s point person for ZeeMee, said the platform helps students feel personally connected early in the process.

“In admissions, building a strong foundation and connection is important. Students are aiming to be more than a number and more than their application. We use it (ZeeMee) to foster those connections both with Hartwick and with each other.”

In recognition of these results, Hartwick received a 2025 ZeeMee Trailblazer Award, which honors colleges taking innovative approaches to student engagement and enrollment. Holmberg said the national recognition was a meaningful moment for the team.

“To say I was shocked was an understatement,” she said. “I am so proud of the work we do here in admissions, and to be recognized by one of our partners for that work was absolutely humbling.”

Holmberg creates and curates content, facilitates live programming and responds directly to student questions on the platform.

“Most of my content is silly, meme-style content that aims to be both entertaining and informative,” she said. “We are meeting students where they are, online, and showing them that they can truly be themselves at Hartwick.”

Students are also seeing long-term benefits. Damon Turner ’29, a computer science major, said ZeeMee assisted in feeling comfortable and confident heading into the first semester.

“I could talk with other students and come to Hartwick adequately prepared,” Turner said.

Now enrolled, Turner has returned the favor by helping guide next year’s Hawks.

Turner said the first year is off to a strong start, staying engaged with ZeeMee conversations and finding community through the Equestrian Club.
