I chose Hartwick because of the tight-knit community and the focus on international experiential learning.

My internship with Active Minds, specifically in the NextGen Initiatives and Community Programs, was an experience that reshaped my understanding of mental health advocacy and the power of youth-driven change. As an intern, I worked on projects that directly supported mental health awareness, from organizing events to developing resources that helped young people engage in open conversations about mental wellness. One of the most impactful parts was working with like-minded peers passionate about breaking down the stigma around mental health. We collaborated on campaigns that reached hundreds of students, giving them the tools to support their friends, themselves, and their communities. It was inspiring to see how much of a difference our efforts made, and it deepened my commitment to incorporating mental health into my future work in public health.

My favorite thing to order for John Christopher’s Cafe is a medium hot chocolate with oat milk and whipped cream. The oat milk makes the hot chocolate very silky and the whipped cream is the perfect addition of sweetness. This drink makes me feel warm and fuzzy in the winter.
