Thomas Brauer

Hybrid Learning Coordinator

Tom is the Hybrid Learning Coordinator here at Hartwick College. He was born in Queens, NYC and grew up, upstate in Norwich, New York. He studied painting and 19th Century European Literature at the New School University where he graduated with BA/BFA. After a summer working as a production assistant on an independent film Tom continued to follow his passion and went to Yale where he studied painting and printmaking where he received the Philip Berdan Award for distinction in painting/printmaking. After he received his MFA he moved back to New York City. Tom has shown his work in many group shows around the world as well as having two solo shows in NYC- ‘Somebody Else’s There’, 2005 and ‘Islands Never Cry’, 2011. He also has shown in galleries in Tokyo and Paris. Tom has taught courses at The Yale British Museum of Art, Yale University and was an adjunct professor at the New School. He has also lectured at Assumption College, Tokyo University of Art, Rhode Island School of Design and Morrisville SUNY. Tom moved back upstate five years ago where he is renovating an old school house and taking care of his rescued dogs Kota and Nico, his cats Eddy and Noki and a flock of chickens, ducks and geese.
