Alicia Richardson

College Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) Officer

Alicia Richardson is currently Hartwick College’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Officer. Dr. Richardson is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and co-chair of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee. She mainly focuses on elevating inclusiveness and implementing DEIB best practices. Before joining Hartwick College, she was an English Professor, and later the Interim Chief Diversity Officer, at Schenectady County Community College. Dr. Richardson earned a Master of Arts in Africana Studies from University at Albany in 2009 and a Bachelor of Arts in English from University of Saint Joseph in 2005. More recently, she earned a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership and Organizational Innovation from Marymount University in 2025. Her dissertation, “In This Here Place, We Flesh”: Exploring the Relationship Between Empowerment and Addressing Anti-Blackness for CDOs at Liberal Arts Colleges in the Northeast, contributes to the discussion regarding the way in which DEI initiatives involve combating anti-blackness and how it is that CDOs are empowered to name and address it on college campuses.
