A Frightful Flashback to Hartwick History

As Halloween approaches, here’s a spooky-good look back to February 1962, when legendary film actor Vincent Price, famed for horror classics like “House of Wax” and “The Fly,” visited Hartwick College.

On campus for his lecture “Three American Voices,” Price showcased not only his signature stage presence but also his passion for art and literature. He guided the audience through the works of Walt Whitman, James Whistler and Tennessee Williams, offering a glimpse into American culture from the perspective of a true Renaissance man.

It was a performance that proved Price could captivate with more than chills. Hartwick students walked away with an unforgettable encounter that was equal parts cultural and theatrical.
