$1 Million Matching Gift Challenge Announced to Support Hartwick

Hartwick College has announced a transformative $1 million anonymous matching gift to inspire broad support for the College through the Hartwick Fund, which provides flexible, unrestricted resources that directly enhance the student experience.

Through this challenge, all new unrestricted gifts to the Hartwick Fund will be matched 1:1, effectively doubling their impact. The match applies to all new gifts received by Dec. 31, 2025. New pledges and payments on existing pledges are not eligible.

“We are deeply grateful for this extraordinary act of generosity,” said Stacey Grady ’03, interim vice president for institutional advancement & external relations.

The announcement comes as Hartwick celebrates surpassing the original $50 million goal of its Together, We Soar comprehensive campaign, which has been extended to a new goal of $55 million. The campaign, which supports scholarships, academic innovation and campus life, continues to generate remarkable momentum from alumni, parents, and friends across the country.

The match also aligns with Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) Day on Oct. 9, when donors nationwide use their charitable funds to support the causes they value most. Supporters with a DAF are encouraged to consider making an unrestricted gift to the College, knowing that it will be matched dollar for dollar to benefit students immediately.

The Hartwick Fund sustains every aspect of campus life, from scholarships and experiential learning to academic innovation, sustainability and student wellness. Unrestricted giving enables the College to respond to emerging opportunities and strengthen its foundation as The Life Balance College, where students learn, lead and thrive.
