FINDING A SUPPORT SYSTEM

My sorority was an important part of my Hartwick experience. I was a member of Phi Sigma Phi and had the honor of serving as president during my senior year. My involvement helped me grow as a leader while building lifelong friendships.

The relationships and experiences I gained through my sorority showed me the importance of building a strong support system and surrounding yourself with people who encourage you to grow. I continue to carry the leadership, communication, teamwork and time-management skills I developed through my sorority into my professional life.

FACULTY WHO INVESTED IN MY FUTURE

The Economics Department stands out most to me. Throughout all four years, the faculty and staff were invested in my goals after graduation and consistently shared opportunities that aligned with my interests and career goals.

Having professors who knew me personally and genuinely cared about my future made a lasting impact on me. Their support helped me see opportunities I might not have found otherwise and gave me confidence as I prepared for life after Hartwick.

SAY YES TO NEW OPPORTUNITIES

One of the biggest lessons I took from Hartwick is to say ‘yes’ to new opportunities, even when they push you outside your comfort zone. Some of my most valuable experiences came from simply being willing to try something new.

I encourage current students to take advantage of every opportunity Hartwick offers, from office hours with professors and on-campus activities to career trips and J Term study abroad. I participated in all of these, and they helped me become a well-rounded individual and prepared me for life after graduation.

REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE

I completed three internships during my time at Hartwick, many of which I learned about through professors and staff. These experiences gave me valuable real-world skills and ultimately helped me secure a job right after graduation.

The internships gave me a better understanding of the professional world and helped me build skills I continue to use in my career as a commercial loan processor at Grow America.
