Hartwick Rolls Out "Industry Days" For Students

Job fair interaction

The Office of Career & Network Engagement at Hartwick College is excited to launch a brand new program that expands upon the concept of a traditional career fair/work expo. Every Wednesday in October, we are hosting “Industry Days.” This initiative raises awareness of employers, internship and job opportunities and alumni careers in regional industry clusters. Each week, representatives from organizations and industry alumni will visit campus for networking, resume and LinkedIn profile reviews, and a Q&A about workplace culture, and current students will be able to share internship experiences with their peers.

For the initial season, we are focusing on the following industries:

  • Healthcare
  • Arts/Media/Communication
  • Education/Non-Profit/Human Services
  • Agribusiness/Manufacturing/Technology

The first two Industry Days have been a big success. “Students from a wide range of disciplines are coming to many, if not all of the events, to learn what’s possible and applicable to their majors and interests within any given industry,” said Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations and Career Development Megan Gray. “We encourage students to explore industries not traditionally associated with their major but may be a great fit for their interests and values, like IT jobs in a non-profit setting, accounting jobs in the arts, or digital media for healthcare.”

“Employers have expressed appreciation for the Industry Day-style format and opportunities to engage with students in new ways,” she added.
