Fingerprinting

The New York State Education Department (NYSED) requires all teacher certification applicants to pass the fingerprinting process before issuing a teaching certificate. The Hartwick College Education Department requires all students to complete fingerprinting prior to student teaching, although some schools may request them prior to mini-practicum.

Fingerprinting is done exclusively through IdentoGO.

Fingerprinting Process:

  • Fingerprints must be completed at one of IdentoGO’s locations. Appointments are required. To submit an application and schedule an appointment, visit IdentoGO.
  • Select schedule or manage appointment, or call 877-472-6915.
  • The service code is 14ZGQT (if the system asks for it).
  • The fingerprinting fee (payable to IdentoGO) is $101.75, and is payable by credit card, cash, or check at your appointment.
  • At the appointment, your photo will be taken. You will also need two forms of identification. At least one must be a photo ID.
  • Photo ID documents include a US passport, drivers license, or Hartwick Wick ID card.
  • Additional identification documents: voter registration card, US military card, Social Security card, birth certificate.
  • Fingerprinting results will automatically be posted to your TEACH account.

How to verify that TEACH has received your fingerprinting information:

  • Sign into your TEACH account.
  • Go to TEACH home.
  • Under Inquiry Links, click on Account Information.
  • You will see a box in the second section down (starts with education, ends with retirement).
  • Highlight fingerprinting.
  • Click the GO box to the right of the bigger box.
  • This will bring you to the fingerprinting page.
  • If it says “Your DCJS and FBI results have been received,” your fingerprints have been successfully added.
