Alumni, family and friends returned to Hartwick’s beloved Pine Lake, to breathe in its history, rekindle their memories and celebrate the life and influence of faculty member C.W. “Sandy” Huntington.

The gift was created as a match challenge, designed to inspire alumni and others to support our students and programs like never before. Specifically, every dollar received by The Hartwick Fund before Dec. 31 will be matched, effectively doubling the impact of all cash gifts received.

Bob Hanft ’69 repeatedly saw the life-changing impact students gained from internships, so he and Pat Russell Hanft ’72, decided to make that their personal focus.

Founded in 2023 by Professors Matt Chick, Laurel Elder, and Zach McKenney, the Hartwick Institute of Public Service partners with local governments to engage young people in our democracy, develop a foundation in the law and inspire the next generation of public leaders.

The anonymous gift serves to inspire broad support for the College through the Hartwick Fund.

The campaign has focused on five pillars, each of which plays an integral role in formulating the unique, independent, impactful education which decades of graduates attest is the essence of the Hartwick experience.

The fund will provide long-term support for the program, with potential uses including funding the team’s annual training trip, purchasing new equipment, and making improvements to facilities.

Founded in 2019, CFOC, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and prosperity of Otsego County, has made Hartwick College a funding priority.

Nearly 150 people attended and more than $42,000 was raised in support of Hartwick athletics.

Brett Schilkraut ’95 and Danielle Quilligan ’99 have remained highly engaged with their alma mater.
