Krista Wahlstrom

Assistant Professor of Psychology

Dr. Wahlstrom has a decade of experience using neuromodulation techniques in both the rodent and human brain to identify novel therapeutic approaches for memory disorders. During her PhD work at the University of Iowa she used optogenetic approaches to target learning and memory pathways in the rodent brain. For her postdoctoral work at the University of Utah she used direct electrical stimulation of deep brain structures in human memory networks to understand the circuits involved in episodic memory. Dr. Wahlstrom was the recipient of an NIH National Research Service Award grant and the NIH Outstanding Scholar in Neuroscience Award. At Hartwick, Dr. Wahlstrom is excited to continue studying the mechanisms of learning and memory and engaging students in unique opportunities to explore animal research.
