I chose Hartwick because of the welcoming community I experienced immediately.
One of my favorite events I’ve been to is OH fest during my freshman year with my friends. It was a lot of fun getting to walk around main street, listen to the live music, play games, and go around eating food at some of the local restaurants.
I’m honestly super happy and grateful that I was approved to start my thesis and defend it at the end of this year, aka my junior year. I’m currently working alongside Aimee Hill at the Center for Craft Food and Beverage & Baking Innovation Lab, evaluating milling methods, protein and starch quality in soft wheats on baking quality. I just presented my baseline of my research to other seniors that are doing research and their advisors in the Department of Chemistry. I’m also working with John Dudek as my other advisor which is super cool because he was one of the first professors I met when I did the overnight program as a high school senior. Both my advisors are super supportive and are very helpful in providing me feedback about my work and making sure I’m doing well and on track. I know throughout my years at Hartwick, they were always people I could turn to.
