Hartwick College’s Art and Art History Department Hosts ‘Matty’s Rocket’ Creator

Tim Fielder, a graphic novel artist, animator and illustrator, will deliver a Visiting Artist Lecture at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in Room 138 of the Anderson Center for the Arts. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Fielder is best known for his graphic novel Matty’s Rocket and his TEDx Talk on Afrofuturism. Four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry’s book club, in partnership with Literati, selected Matty’s Rocket as its February 2022 reading selection.

In addition to leading Dieselfunk Studios, Fielder serves as managing partner of illustrations and creative for The Graphic History Company. He has also taught digital animation, concept design and illustration at institutions including New York University, the School of Visual Arts, the New York Film Academy and Howard University.
