The Wind Ensemble Takes on Carnegie Hall (Again)

Hartwick College’s Wind Ensemble is preparing for a spring 2026 trip to New York City, culminating in a performance on the main stage at Carnegie Hall.

The concert marks a return to the world-famous venue as Hartwick’s wind ensemble first performed there in 2018.

The ensemble will arrive in the city on Sunday, Mar. 22, for a pre-performance clinic at the Westin Hotel Times Square. Their Carnegie Hall performance is scheduled for Monday, Mar. 23, as part of a showcase featuring several groups.

Associate Professor of Music and Department Co-Chair Andrew Pease is leading the wind ensemble’s preparations for their Carnegie Hall performance. “A trip like this gives Hartwick students a chance to perform on one of the world’s premier stages, beyond just the Anderson Theater,” Pease said. “It also gets them out into the wider world, seeing what’s out there and, with the showcase format, hearing how other top bands play.”

The wind ensemble comprises approximately 40 performers, including students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members. The program will feature a newly commissioned work by composer Joni Greene, written especially for the ensemble’s Carnegie Hall performance, along with additional selections that are still being finalized. Pease is also preparing a new short composition for the concert.
