A Hawks in Flight Feature
The fall semester means ratings season is upon us, and once again, Hartwick earned visibility in a select group of higher education rankings and surveys.
In the 2022-23 US News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, Hartwick saw significant movement on the publication’s Social Mobility ranking, jumping to #11 from last year’s slot of #22. In its “Best Liberal Arts Colleges” rankings, the College rose four places to #142 nationally. In recent years, Hartwick has seen steady upward movement on the “Best Liberal Arts Colleges” rankings: #146 in 2021; and #160 in 2020.
The Times Higher Ed/Wall Street Journal US College Rankings 2022 saw Hartwick move up one spot, tied for 359 overall out of 796. The rankings consider 15 performance indicators, including student engagement, outcomes and inclusion.
In the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2023, Hartwick earned a nod for fostering an environment that emphasizes “community-centered learning, crystallizing the school’s philosophy that learning isn’t about memorization, it’s about creating experiential knowledge and developing skills.”
The College also appeared in several rankings by Washington Monthly. Hartwick placed 90th among more than 200 national liberal arts colleges, thanks in part to strong Social Mobility and Service Rank scores. Further, the publication named Hartwick a “Best Bang for the Buck – Northeast” school.
