News Hartwick Students Promote Health and Wellness

October 4, 2021

Hartwick College students will hold a special event to promote the holistic wellbeing of the Hartwick community on Wednesday, October 6. A wide variety of physical, mental, and academic support resources and activities will be available at a Health & Wellness Fair on Frisbee Field from 4 – 6 p.m.

The fair will help students understand the connection between holistic well-being and academic success, pick up tools and strategies to design a healthy lifestyle, and develop a support network on campus that suits their needs. The fair will also promote student engagement with peer-based support resources and other offices on campus.

Student organizers are developing their professional development and mentoring skills through the design, implementation, and assessment of the event.

“Individual well-being rests at the intersection of physical, mental and academic needs,” said Director of the Center for Student Success Jonathan Coller-Takahashi. “We designed this collaborative, student-organized event to demonstrate that the most effective strategy for achieving success in higher academics is one that balances the needs of the body with that of the mind.”

College departments and groups participating in the Health & Wellness Fair include the Center for Student Success and Learning Ambassadors; the Department of Health and Wellness and Peer Health Educators; Success Coaches and Peer Pilots; Counseling Services and 50/50 Mentors; and the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.
