News Hundreds of Visitors Expected to Participate in Hartwick Spring Admissions Events

April 6, 2023

Over the next few weeks, hundreds of students and their families will get to know the Hartwick community a little better as the College gears up for a series of in-person and virtual admissions events.

“Students will hear firsthand from members of the Hartwick community what it’s like to be a Hawk,” said Karen McGrath, senior vice president for enrollment and student experience. “They’ll learn more about our student support services, engage with the current student body and see what the Hartwick experience is all about.”

The ‘Get to Know Hartwick’ events kick off on Saturday, April 15, with Accepted Student Day. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., accepted students and their families will be guided through sessions on their next steps to enrollment, including conversations with Hartwick President Darren Reisberg, and faculty-led major-specific activities. They’ll find out about the College’s wide variety of services, get a sampling of the many student clubs at the Taste of Wick, and meet coaches, teammates and classmates – and perhaps win one or two of the many prizes up for grabs. Optional afternoon sessions include specialized residence hall tours, an athletic reception, and a spotlight on career development.

“We’re excited about our academic activities during Accepted Student Day that will give students opportunities to connect with faculty and learn more about our programs and our focus on experiential learning,” said Laurel Bongiorno, vice president of academic affairs and dean of faculty. “The academic sessions will be held in the spaces in which the programs are taught and with many of the people that will help them find their respective FlightPaths, which we believe will help our newest Hawks get a real sense of the breadth of opportunities that will be at their fingertips.”

A virtual Accepted Student Day will be held on Wednesday, April 19, allowing accepted students and their families to connect with future classmates and current students, and talk with faculty and enrollment staff. The event will run from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On April 22, the College will hold its Spring Open House from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The open house will include sessions with current Hartwick students, faculty, staff and coaches. Also on the agenda are campus tours, FlightPath conversations, brunch in The Commons, admissions scholarship and financial aid discussion.
