News Success Summit Helps Sophomores Along Their FlightPath
A Hawks in Flight Feature
On a recent Sunday afternoon, nearly 75 sophomores attended the third “Success Summit,” a FlightPath initiative conducted by the Office of Career Development. Students heard from a variety of guest speakers, including President Darren Reisberg, Dr. Cheryl Johnson, and Cierra Barkley ’23, and learned about networking, professionalism, etiquette, and self-promotion.
Staff, faculty and students helped facilitate the three-hour event, which featured a series of carefully crafted presentations and interactive exercises.
Attendees were enthusiastic about the seminar’s content and the concepts taught.
“I learned how to present myself at a professional event,” said Hailey Doescher ’25, an undeclared major.
“I learned to always be open-minded, especially if there are opportunities not related to my major/field,” said Abigail Wetsel ’25, a transfer nursing student. “Always show up (preferably early), always say yes to new opportunities, and my major doesn’t determine my career.”
Director of Career Development Peter Bennett, who served as the event’s master of ceremonies, was “thrilled with the effort of the Hartwick community coming together in support of sophomores,” and the “tremendous energy and commitment shown throughout the event by all participants.”
