From the Archives: Angela Davis Talks Race, Class, Gender

Political activist, author and professor Angela Davis spoke Thursday, April 5, 1990, as part of Hartwick’s Women’s Week activities.

Her talk, “Women, Race & Class,” was held in the Dewar Campus Center – now called Dewar Union – and more than 600 people packed the Agora (now Stack Lounge).

In this clip, Ms. Davis expresses her desire for protest movements to go beyond marching, urging students to remain in place until leaders engage in meaningful negotiations. She was introduced by Professor Emerita Katherine O’Donnell.
