Hartwick College Students Gain Preferred Admission Option Through Russell Sage Agreement

Hartwick College has updated its articulation agreement with Russell Sage College School of Health Sciences, providing qualified Hartwick graduates with preferred admission into select graduate programs in occupational therapy and physical therapy. The updated agreement now includes preferred admission to the doctor of occupational therapy (OTD) program, creating a seamless new path to doctoral-level professional preparation.

Under the agreement, Hartwick students who complete a bachelor’s degree and the required prerequisite coursework may receive preferred early acceptance, on a space-available basis, into Russell Sage’s master of science, doctorate in occupational therapy programs or doctor of physical therapy program. Students must also submit a Russell Sage application and secure a satisfactory faculty recommendation from Hartwick.

The agreement also gives Hartwick students access to Russell Sage advisors to help coordinate undergraduate coursework and ensure completion of program prerequisites. In addition, eligible students may apply early for graduate assistantship and Sage Graduate Schools will waive application fees for Hartwick graduates pursuing these programs.

Cherilyn Lacy, assistant provost at Hartwick College, said the agreement helps students plan for graduate study by clearly outlining academic expectations and available advising support.

“This collaborative agreement helps students understand and prepare for the academic requirements needed to transition into graduate study in occupational or physical therapy. It allows students to align their coursework and take advantage of advising resources as they prepare for the application process.”

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that occupational therapy and physical therapy will grow faster than average nationwide, with median annual salaries near $100,000. Both fields closely align with Hartwick’s Life Balance positioning, preparing students for careers that support physical wellness and help others lead healthier lives.

Hartwick’s collaboration with Russell Sage is one of many articulation and transfer agreements offered by the College to help streamline students’ pathways from undergraduate study to graduate degrees in high-demand fields.
